Sweet and soor
A Shallow Bowl to put this week’s random assortment of goodies into.
Just back from a lovely weekend visiting friends in Berwick-upon-Tweed. Spent most of our time sat around eating, drinking and chatting, which is as it should be.
Light by Ross Whatmore. Is there nothing that man can’t do?
Side-eye side plate.
Hester, leading the way.
Rare action shot.
Soor Plooms!
Screenprinted this little fella using drawing fluid as a resist. It was a test for a larger print, but I’m not convinced the drawing fluid is going to work – it’s a bit sticky and doesn’t flow easily, so the range of marks is a bit limited. My next move is to paint directly onto True Grain and expose that onto the screen.

Maximus Thrax, born in 173 AD, was a Roman Emperor from 235 to 238 AD. Described as a giant of a man with extraordinary strength, he was known for pulling wagons, tearing saplings, and smashing rocks. The barbarian drank 26 litres of wine and 27 kilos of meat (no veg) every day and would often “catch his sweat and put it in small jars or cups, and afterwards exhibit by this means two or three pints of it.”1
